Electrical Engineer 20-026

Job Description:

This sensor manufacturing engineering position will assist electrical aspects of manufacturing work related to marine undersea sensors, transducers and ruggedized underwater cable assemblies. Will be required to learn and know every step involved in the manufacturing process, from initial component procurement to final assembly and testing. Ideally, will have hands-on experience in transducer assembly and testing, with the willingness to perform hands-on tasks in a shop environment.

Total Years of Related Experience for Position:  5+ 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Procure and track parts associated with sensor assemblies
    • Electrical Parts (circuit boards, cable, wire, COTS sensors...etc.)
    • Manufacturing related consumables
    • Perform QA testing and document inspections of incoming parts/assemblies, including circuit boards
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and records
    • Generate and maintain work order documentation
    • Maintain test data and quality assurance records
    • Develop and improve documentation of manufacturing testing procedures
  • Support sensor assembly and system integration
    • Pack and ship sensor related equipment, as required for offsite deliveries
  • Develop manufacturing process improvements and manufacturing related design improvements
    • Investigate and propose ideas to improve yield, reliability, efficiency, reduce cost, etc.
    • Adapt to new sensor designs
  • Support acoustic and electrical testing
    • Coordinate and perform manufacturing related testing required to support project
      • In the lab and at off-site calibration events
    • Improve documentation and test procedures

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Two or more years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
  • Experience and skills in one or more of the following, with the desire to learn all related disciplines:
    • Acoustics
    • Analog Circuit Design & Test
  • The ability to quickly adapt manufacturing processes to accommodate changes in design requirements
  • Familiarity with basic configuration control and manufacturing practices
  • Hands-on experience in electrical assembly, with the willingness to perform assembly tasks in a shop environment
  • Average physical mobility to move around an office or plant environment and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to participate in an integrated product team with internal and external personnel

An essential qualification for this position is successfully obtaining a Secret security clearance issued by the Federal Government, which may require successful completion of a background check.
